Two days passed with us doing nothing and then Kirk told us that they were going to attack Brvnik the following day and that he was sorry we wouldn't be able to go on the attack because he still didn't have any weapons for us. We were all a bit angry by this but we had to accept it, the only thing that we could do was to hope that everyone came back ok. There we were sitting and talking when in came Docy, I immediately told him about the following days planned attack but it seemed that he already knew and he also had a up his sleeve as he explained,
"I'm going on the attack tomorrow as medical backup and the local police have lent me a rifle, Kirk has also lent Peter one as my assistant so we are both going, it's a shame that we can't all go but when we get back we'll let you smell our barrels" he said,
"F... Off we all said in harmony as though we were in a choir.eter
They both knew how much wen wanted to go but there was no way as Kirk had already explained. All that day they were just laughing at us because we couldn't go but we didn't mind as we knew that our time would come. The following morning I awoke early and went to Kirk's house to see if he wanted any help but I subsequently found out that he had everything under control so I returned back to our house. They were all out of bed and Docy and Peter were getting kitted up ready as it wasn't going to be long before the attack was supposed to start. Once they were ready we all went outside to see most of 106 there, they were all getting ammunition, grenades and any missiles and rocket launchers that they needed. It wasn't long before everyone was ready apart from us, they all went around the back of the houses so that Kirk could speak to them, Alan and myself stayed in the background as we didn't want to get in the way. Once the talk was over they all started to get on the lorries, we wished Docy and Peter luck as they passed us by, I could see the expression on Alan's face as if to say why not us and if Kirk had lent him a pistol he would have gone but the only thing that we could do was to wait. About an hour passed with no noise and then all hell broke loose, there were sounds of machine guns, tanks, mortars, multiple rocket launchers, everything coming from the direction of the village. The radio center in the basement was a hive of activity as fire control orders were being relayed to the mortars which were 60 and 120mm, there was also detail's of casualties but I couldn't understand how many, I was getting angry because I was useless and couldn't help in any way so I went to see what Alan and zaggy were doing. There they were just sitting down drinking and as soon as I walked in they offered me a bottle but I refused and after telling them what was going on I went back to see if I could get any more information. One of the men that spoke a little english told me that the attack had finished as 106 had reached their objective and that there was one dead and three wounded, thankfully the numbers were low and I hoped that Docy and Peter were not among the casualties. A half hour passed and then they started to arrive back, there was no sign of Docy and Peter but eventually Peter turned up saying that Docy was at the hospital with the wounded,
"it was great, these Bosnians are not so bad when it comes to a fight, the only problem was that we shouldn't have stopped as we had the enemy on the run, we attacked so fast that they didn't know what was happening. We took three bunkers, one of which was the forward HQ and Kirk found a stack of books and maps. The rest of the men are staying there and digging in until they get relieved, Docy and I didn't want to come back but Kirk ordered us to, do you want to smell my barrel?"he said,
You could see from the expression on his face that he had enjoyed it after all that was what he had come for, so had the rest of us but we had to wait. That evening while were speaking to Kirk we found out that he was very happy with the way that Peter and Docy had acted,
"they acted like real professionals, Peter was very calm but shouted like a madman, Docy was a bit hysterical but worked well and I'm glad that they were both there, we took twenty-five percent of the village and our casualty figures were low, all in all it was a great days work and I'm proud of everyone that was on the attack, I'm sorry that I can't tell you anymore but I have to go to command and report what happened"he said,
As he drove off I went back to our house to find everyone in high spirits and drinking so I decided to join them.
