The Empty Mind

Do we all have a purpose in life or are we just born to go down which ever path life takes us? The reason this is the topic today is that as I look around and at the world and try to annalize it but I can't find an answer. Throughout history people have existed for a purpose good or bad, who determines what their purpose to exist is, some say it's God's will, but what does that mean? Did Hitler for instance exist just for the purpose of starting WW11 and the persecution of the Jews, was Putin born for the sole purpose to exist and maybe start WW111, who actually knows, I for one don't know but it starts me thinking about what was I born for, what is my purpose in life, why am I still existing, is there a purpose? Is there anybody out there that thinks the same way as me because it really makes my head hurt thinking about it, after all that I've done wrong in my life was it my purpose to come to Croatia and risk everything just for an ideal or is that what I exist fo...

Well at long last it seems that there may be a break in our heatwave, last night after the temperature hitting a huge 40 degrees it started to thunder and lightning but did the heavens open for rain to fall, no only a few spots, I could probably drink more water than fell from the sky, at least it's a little cooler 19 and set to rise to a reasonable 35 degrees which is a bit more bearable. It's Sunday the end of the weekend and again it seems that my wife and I will be on our own, my youngest daughter and her fiance are going here and there to visit his family and I'm not sure if my eldest daughter will be here so it's going to be a weird Sunday but peaceful. It's here, what's here well the weekend of course, when most of the family are home. The tempatures stil high, at the moment 25 and set to rise again to 39 degrees and with a full house it'll be absolutely boiling inside and now because it's so hot outside I've got nowhere to go, what a shame. Every time the whole family is here I complain but don't get me wrong I'm happy their all here apart from my son who's still in Germany working and we won't see him for a couple of weeks, work is work, at least it's not as hot there. The burst water pipe has been replaced and the hole filled in, just the concrete topping and it will be done. I bet that the president of Ukraine is now extatic when the shoe is on the other foot and the idiot in the Kremlin is getting a right good kicking. It's been so long since the people of Ukraine had something to be happy about and not feel miserable every day. They may be still losing their homeland little by little every day but I now think that perhaps the tide is turning. The incursion into the russian motherland which is the first time since WW11 is an early Christmas present after all the suffering that they have endured physically, mentally and the bodies of their loved ones coming home from the front in boxes. Now it's the turn of the russian people to be upset and experience what the ordinary people of Ukraine have for so long. To hot to handle, great song but that's not what this blog is about, the temperature here now is 25 and set again to rise to 39 degrees, that's what I mean by too hot to handle. How can you sleep when it's 25 degrees, I have great difficulty, try tablets, no effect, just tossing and turning all night, if you do manage to start to drop off enemy number 1 mosquitos start buzzing around your head so you wake up again. Eventually you do manage to go to sleep but then wake up early because it's too hot and your either thirsty or have to use the loo, you don't feel like eating and especially cooking as it makes the kitchen hotter, water which I drink a lot of is always in the fridge to keep it cold. When the temperature reaches it's max mid-afternoon and you have to use the car to go somewhere the door is so hot it's hard to get into the car and when you do it's like a sauna and have too wait until the air conditian kicks in so you can touch the steering wheel...

What annoys you most, well for me it's a couple of things, there's our arch enemy number 1 and that's mosquitos, no matter how much bug spray they spray from a plane they still keep coming back as if they have reinforcements waiting for the first wave of attack to fail and after producing the next generation they attack knowing there will be others to follow if and when their attack fails, I apsolutly hate mosquitos that's enough about them as I have one flying around my head with that annoying buzzing. Then you've got number 2 on my list flys, those little black monstrosities slightly bigger than mosquitos but just as annoying. Have you ever been sitting down for dinner and there seems to be no flys in the house, ok it's time to eat, so as you sit down to eat what shows up out of nowhere, flys, you've got a choice get up from the table and chase it around with a fly swatter or ignore it and eat. It's too annoying so you have to get rid of it but it seem...

What the hell happened over the last couple of days, has the world completely gone off its rocker. After surfing the web last night I was utterly shocked by what I read and listened to, firstly America, the stock market has fallen because of fears of a new recession I don't understand why everyone thinks that there's going to be a recession because I'm not a financial analyst so I can't explain what's happening only that on the web it says that there is going to be one so that's why the market tumbled. There were also two items that I saw about Trumps rally in Atlanta, what a lot of stupid things he said and the main one was that he didn't thank Biden for the prisoner exchange he thanked Putin, what an absolutely foolish thing to say, is Trump losing it or just pretending to be an idiot, it was disgusting what he said about his opponent and Biden as well as other politicians, I honestly can't see him winning the upcoming election if he carries on this wa...

What a day for Ukraine, the long awaited arrival of the F-16s and the hitting of various targets inside Russia, Crimea and various other military targets and inferstructures, I understand that Ukraine is losing both land, equipment and worst of all soldiers on their land but I think now the tide will turn in favour of Ukraine. After so long and so much pleading with the west to help them with air support it has finally arrived, The results of this I think will become obvious within the next week or so and I also think that the main aim will be to use them to get for starters Crimea back and after that who knows? There's not a whole squadron of these planes but for now it'll be a game changer and will help hopefully save Ukrainian lives and slowly put a halt to the advance of the russian hoards in occupied territory. Back on the home front as I wrote an unusual Sunday but everything went ok but now the house is quiet until my wife returns today, it's just my eldest daughter ...

Why do I say it's unusual well I'll explain, ok it's Sunday but a very unusual Sunday. For starters my wife won't be here as she and a colleague from work have gone for a few days to a sort of Wellness center as Monday is a holiday and everyone has a long weekend apart from my son who went back to Zagreb because he has to work on Monday shame but it's not a holiday in Germany so today he will be traveling back to Germany for work tomorrow so he won't be here for Sunday dinner, no wife, no son. My eldest daughter will be at her fiances for dinner so that's another one missing today so unusually it's only my youngest daughter and her fiance and myself for dinner and because my wife's not here I've got to cook poor me,I got up early to prepare dinner so everything is ready just the cooking left, it'll be funny just the three of us sitting down to dinner but that's the way this unusual Sunday is turning out to be. Well after a long pause I'm back to my normal self, accident, tile layer and everything else that has happened in my life the last few days within my family and in the world. The weekend started early with my son coming home on Thursday and going back to work tonight, short but sweet, my youngest daughter and her fiance arrived last night so again for a short time it's a full house and I mean a full house which is great as my wife is going away with one of her friends today for a couple of days as we have a holiday on Monday so it's a long weekend. My son apparently will cook dinner today and tomorrow I'll cook dinner for only three as my wife won't be here and my eldest daughter will be with her fiance, wow what a strange weekend but it's better than nothing with no one here. For me it's great to be able to write again and to get back into my rhythm, I'm not going to touch on the subject of world politics or war, I'm going to try and enjoy this week...

Well I suppose every one knows what that is, it's something you have to do five days a week and get paid for it, as in yesterday's blog my wife and daughter went back to work after their holidays and the house was empty apart from our dogs, it was a bit different to say the least after two weeks with them home but all holidays come to an end and now it's back to working for a living. What do you think if someone stays at home while everyone else goes to work as I do because I receive a pension do you class housework which is normally done by the wife as work or a job, I class it as both now that I have to do it everyday apart from Sunday. A lot of people people ask me what I do and I reply housework and then they laugh, ok if they think it's funny but I don't, now I know what has to be done every day to keep the household shipshape and it's not that easy and I now know what it is like being a housewife so I class what I do every day as a job. Normality that's what today is, early to rise because my wife and daughter are back in work so as is norm I have to make coffee for my wife before she goes to work, I'm not sure wheather they will be happy to go back to work after two weeks off on holidays but I'll soon find out. The guests left yesterday with a few tears but that's to be expected from my mother in law they arrived back home and she was immediately on the phone to my wife, some things don't change. We heard from our son who was on the way back to Zagreb from Germany, only another few days and he will have a short holiday and of course that includes coming home to see us, by the time we see him it'll be almost three weeks since he was home but he has a job, that pays and that's what's most important. Yesterday my wife and I were on our own as my daughter and her fiance drove our guests back to Osijek and then they went to a local swimming pool for the day, no cooking just eating leftovers...

Why well a couple of reasons, conflicting reviews of the opening ceremony of the Olympics is one, there were some people who didn't enjoy the carrying of the country's flags up the Seine because of it’s Lgb theme or to some thats what it looked like but to me it was all part of the idea for the opening ceremony, well planned and exacuted, it was all part of the show, for myself it was well choreographed, great music, lights and fantastic lighting of the Olympic flame, all in all I trurly enjoyed it. Of course there were some who didn't enjoy it but that's their right as a human being in a free country where there are no restrictions and you live your life as you feel fit. World of Wonders, what an absolute change from the norm of bad news, wars, maniac dictators, politics, absolutely fantastic even with the rain. You all I suppose know what I'm talking about, that's right the coming together of people in the rain washing away the hatred between us, no matter what race, colour or religion they were, a dream come true for me and I suppose a lot more people who think like me. That's right the Olympics, the only place where everyone comes together to perform their best for themselves and their country, the only place where peace and enjoyment are the opporative words. The whole world has gone crazy, the Chinese and Russian bombers provked American and Canadian fighter jets to scramble as they came close to Alaska, the situation in the middle east is getting worse as is the situation between north and south Korea, the American battle fleet has arrived close to Taiwan to send a message to China not to even think about attacking Taiwan, Germany is it seems afraid of threats coming out of the lunatic asylum in Moscow, Hungary is mad as a mad hatter because Ukraine closed the supply of oil from Russia as the pipeline runs through Ukrainian territory which I think is a fair move to stop Russia getting money from the sale of oil, the war in Ukraine is getting even more crazy by the minute with Russia losing thousands of troops and who knows how much equipment in their endless push to gain Ukrainian land and Ukraine responding by hitting targets in the occupied territory and in Russia itself using drones in the air and on the sea, and rockets hitting milita...

Nothing to wtite about today as I got up late and haven't the time today and apart from that I have things in my head that I can't write about because of who reads my blog so I'll just ponder on what's on my mind today and start my blog again tomorrow, sorry but that's life. Well of last week we have guests, firstly my wifes niece and now as of two days ago my mother in law, so it's not a normal house until the weekend when they will go home but for the weekend our youngest daughter and her fiance will also be here, it will definitely be a madhouse but as long as my wife is happy then I'm happy, I can put up with what's going on in our house mainly because of her. The weather has changed a bit, still humid in the morning at 23 and rises to a pleasant 34 degrees which is ok, other places around our village had hail stones the size of golf balls but thankfully we avoided that weather, a little rain but that's all,now you can go out without the worry of sunburn as if I go out apart from to the local shop. How do you adjust your life to suit others, it's hard when you get older and have lived most of your life in the military, people want things now not later, everything must be done when others want it and I am finding that concept difficult to deal with. When I arrived in Croatia I adjusted to what I had to, the reality of war and it's consequences but in the compounds of family life things don't go as you want them to but you accept that your not in charge no more, not a commander but a foot soldier. The hot weather is on its way back 22 now and will reach the mid thirties during the day, hot and humid weather are not good for anyone and I'm beginning to feel it but I have to adjust as with global warming it's going to be different every year. Well it's looking rough for Ukraine as more and more land is lost to the russian hoards, how Putin can look in the mirror when he shaves in the morning I don't know, he sends more and more men to the front all over Ukraine, young, old, ill trained, injured it doesn't matter to him as long as Russia moves forward taking Ukrainian land meter by meter. It's as if I am sure that he doesn't really care how many people die as long as his goals are achieved, he just wants to advance as much as possible before Ukraine gets their promised F-16s from everywhere and he knows that then there will be no chance to advance, if Ukraine had had air support in the beginning of the war then the lunatic would not have taken as much land as they have but now he's in a hurry to steal the land before the airplanes arrive no matter what the cost in human lives and equipment.
